Professional Veterinary Dermatology, Allergy Diagnostics & Chronic Skin Care
Service Overview: Advanced veterinary dermatology and allergy isolation services specializing in the diagnosis and medical management of acute and chronic skin conditions in dogs and cats. Given the warm, humid climate of the regional Southern environment, companion animals frequently experience hypersensitivity reactions linked to food ingredients, flea saliva, and airborne environmental allergens. Clinical diagnostic frameworks utilize target physical examinations supplemented by in-depth diagnostic procedures—including deep skin scrapings for cellular parasites, full-scale blood profiles, advanced urinalysis parameters, and localized tissue biopsies—to identify root pathological causes and execute targeted medical protocols.
Skin problems are common in dogs and cats and can be caused by a variety of things. Some issues can be particularly difficult to treat and should be addressed promptly.
We can often diagnose a skin problem by simply examining your pet. Some dermatologic diseases or conditions do require additional diagnostic procedures to ensure a correct diagnosis. Depending on your pet’s symptoms and the results of our physical exam, we may run blood work or perform a urinalysis, skin scraping, or biopsies.
Common allergies pets face are allergies to food, fleas, or their environment. Living in the South, skin issues are probably our most common appointment type!
Frequently Asked Questions
The warm, high-humidity climate of the Southern region creates an ideal ecosystem for environmental allergens and parasites to thrive almost entirely year-round. Prolonged growing seasons produce extended spikes in airborne plant, weed, and tree pollens, while mild winter intervals prevent a deep freeze, allowing flea populations to remain constantly active. This unceasing exposure places continuous stress on an animal's skin barrier, making dermatologic conditions a leading reason for clinical visits.
